Rant 01: Sonic Unleashed's Theme Song.
Yeah, this song is awesome, this song was partially what got me excited about the game, so when I got the game and popped it in, expecting "Endless Possibilities" by Bowling for Soup, I get this.
"What the fuck is this?"
Yeah, apparently Endless Possibilities was just the tie in, to lure us all into the game. It's pretty much nowhere to be found in the beginning of the Wii version, the Xbox and PS3 version however do have a demo with the song playing.
But thats not the point, the point it, this isn't the theme, this is.
Now I'm not saying the song sucks, it's actually pretty catchy in it's own right.
But just listen to it for about 5 minutes, then listen to this.
Notice the relation.
Sonic Unleashed's theme sounds like a fucking Super Hero theme.
Play the World Adventure song, then imagine a contemporary, slightly muscular white guy with uncomfortably, yet oddly fitting tight clothing, and a cape.
Don't lie, it fits like bread and butter.
This is the main problem I have with Sonic Unleashed's theme, it doesn't fit!
Endless Possibilities would have fit perfectly, oh so perfectly.
Even with the supposedly disliked stage and menu rock music, the themes were always nice to listen to.
Open Your Heart.
Live and Learn.
Sonic Heroes.
I Am.
His World, 2 versions!
These songs kicked ass. Even with mediocre Shadow the Hedgehog and crappy ass Sonic 06, the theme songs were epic.
But we experience a fucking combo breaker with World Adventure.
"Where's the cape Sonic!?"
It throws me off so much. It's like you had a great song, it was introduced in the trailer. Why fuck it up by replacing it.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm cool with classical/orchestra genre music, hell I make classic genre VG covers, it's not a bad song, it's pretty cool, easy to get with.
It just doesn't fit.
It could have been something that wasn't the main theme and I would have been just fine with it, but to make it the main theme is just ridiculous.
Why get a rock song if you're not going to make it the main theme, what were they thinking?
