I actually really like this.

It sounds twisted. Like "a serious omen" twisted. I enjoy that.
Wow, you're good even in reverse.

WritersBlock responds:

lol, thanks.

Doesn't sound like a showdown

More like a staring contest--and I'm not trying to be a smartass, I'm serious. Its not a bad thing though, it nice. The smooth flow of it is good, and how it picks up with more material.

RyeGuyHead responds:

I know this one kid, and, like, he cant lose at staring contests

Come to think of it, his name was RyeGuyHead...strange

I'm adding this to the BVG

I know its a demo, but I like it just that much.

EchozAurora responds:

Yeh... but I do want to make it longer, and I know there is at least one section where I want to work on the drums.

Hmm....

Sound Video Game-ish until the drums come in. I can't see vocal fitting too well here, but thats just me. I do like the mix. I've been thinking of getting into techno myself. The Sytrus is great for techno, keep that in mind--that is if you don't already know that. The visual emphasis you gave is kinda nice, I like those kind of features.
Makes me want to do a Orchestra-Techno cross-over, or just a good techno song. Maybe, maybe not. I'm not good for originals, but you never know.
Thats enough about me, great work on this song, nice use of instruments, nice mix, abit loud, which isn't too good if you want vocals. All and all, frikk'n sweet.

WritersBlock responds:

Sytrus? Sytrus?! I used no sytrus here. FL keys, a free chinese flute vst from kvraudio.com, a couple of FL samples and a sample break courtesy of navij11. The "orion" sample is what I think you were talking about, and although it's not as flexible as a VST, I think it's a nifty sample to have for some light techno. Also, I'll fix some things when I add the vocals, tone down the drums, I'll blance it out somehow.
With the right tutorials/information you could probably get in on the original music scene too.
Thanks for the review.

I think I get this

Good music for casual infantile destruction. Like a Dr. Suess book.
I can't give too much comment on this, but its good.

WritersBlock responds:

Thanks, man.

Wow

Sounds Megaman-esque. I wish this was a BVG contribution, it'd be perfect. The beat is nice and the pull of the heavy flow is great, just when it lightens up and brings you into it again. Nice work.
Very nice work.

WritersBlock responds:

It's one for the album. ;D Shame I didn't pick up on the "megaman-esque" of it...
Thanks for the review.

Defintely sounds GameGear style

This totally sounds like a Game Gear Sonic title. Like the 3rd or 4th level. Unfortunately, the name doesn't fit the music, but I won't nit-pick. Great Work WB!

WritersBlock responds:

Cheers.
I guess it's kind of like Death Egg from Sonic and Knuckles in the sense that it's the big final level/ship thing, and the music isn't apocalyptic mad crazy whatever. Phantom Chaos is just a name like "Death Egg", so the name/music doesn't really affect the gameplay and level, even if it's just imaginary...

Thanks for the review.

Something feels missing

I just can't seem to get into this. The pace is too slow, but it lacks the flow that a slow song would have. It picks up later on, but no by enough to raise my opinion. Something about it is really hollow.

MaestroRage responds:

so what you're saying is you don't agree with the dynamics of the song? That it doesn't flow in what you believe a slow song should? To each their own I suppose. This song was designed to tell a depiction of characters and I was too lazy to point out all the details behind it. However you can rest assured knowing that the way the song is now, does the job relatively well.

Who knows, maybe you would have liked it more if it were a sonic remix ;)

Thanks for the review.

Sweet flow.

I like it. Details are vague, but its good. It seems like it skips somewhere in there.

Syntrus responds:

Thx Knux

Hmm.

I never heard this before, which is weird considering I've watched someone play Chrono Cross tons of times. Excellent work. I think I may do a remix of this.

Shamukh responds:

Haha. It's Home World's overworld music. :P

A lot of it is my own though (well... not a LOT, but the softer parts, with no percussion, those are my own melodies, and aren't in the game).

Thanks for the review!

Oh, and if you wanna hear the original, you can catch me on AIM. :P
